A little bit about us.
We are a family owned and run small farm. "We" consist of Daddy, Mommy, Joshua, Noah, John and Nathan. We look after and care for a canine named Abby, two felines named Alexander and Samantha, one guinea pig whose name is Amber, two long haired rabbits Greta and Gouda, nine Khaki Campbell ducks and anywhere from 25-75 chickens of varying breeds.
During the summer months we try our hand at growing produce and some fruits. So far the squash family of vegetables seem to grow very well on our farm. We are also having success with strawberries in small numbers, rhubarb, and apples. This year I planted Lemon Cucumbers and they did fantastic. I had so many I didn't know what to do with them. I try to grow tomatoes. But, I have trouble keeping the chickens out of them, most of the time. They just love those tomatoes. Growing Watermelons has been hit and miss. Some years they grow very well, while others they don't. If you have any suggestions feel free to send me a note. I love hearing new ideas from people.
Our chickens are happy and healthy. They are allowed to roam wherever they please (that's why they get my tomatoes). That is the life they are meant to have. They are not fenced in at all, but do come 'home' to roost at night. They know where they are safe.
Our ducks are confined. We used to let them roam and noticed they quickly disappeared. A predator had figured out they were easy prey. So, they are confined for their safety, not for the sake of cruelty.
We do take orders. You can find us on LocalHarvest.org and Naturallygrown.org. We do not use anything unnatural on our produce and try to keep our girls on a natural diet also.
